But recently a Montreal team led by  Dr. Michel Desjardins from the University of Montreal and Dr. Heidi McBride at McGill University, discovered a direct link between immune cell (T cells) and the dysfunctional Parkin and PINK1 genes. These genes are  known to be involved in protection of dopamine nerve cells.
