  •  40% of patients using antidepressants will relapse within 2-4 years of stopping their meds, indicating that the meds do not address the underlying physiological changes associated with mood disorders.
  • None of the medications have been studied in humans for long term use. In fact the bulk of the human studies with antidepressants range from 6 weeks to 9 months, with effectiveness measured at 35-60% improvement of the initial symptoms.
  • Medicating the proposed ‘brain chemical imbalance” is now widely accepted as a simplistic understanding of the complex brain.
  • Canada ranks third in the world for the most antidepressants use in the world.  And No! It is not lack of the sun,. Ironically Australia ranks the first! Almost one out of 10 Canadian is now using one type of antidepressant medication. the pain

Treatment

Anxiety and Depression Treatment

Our concept of disease is based on “Degrees of freedom”.  We believe that anything that takes away from you feeling the way you want to feel, be the way you want to be, or do as you wish to do, is taking away from your freedom and thus is part of the disease process. Be it a symptom, be it a dependence on medication, be it a recurring emotion!

Along with correcting the neurotransmitter biochemistry, inflammatory causation, and gastrointestinal imbalances, we also meditation techniques and classical homeopathy to help you gain mastery over your repeated emotional patterns. We also offer Loreta neurofeedback as a personal development tool for patients who have other underlying condition, as is often the case with mood disorders that develop after a concussion.

A little About Me

My career in mental health began in 1996 as a research student in the Center for Mental Health and Addiction. I continued with an internship at the Hospital for Sick Children assisting in genetics research for acquired mental disease. Growing up I dreamt of going for a walk in the wild and knowing the names of the medicinal plants and flowers. As a naturopathic student at CCNM that dream came true.  It was there that I became intrigued with homeopathic and orthomolecular medicine. They stand at polar opposites.  Both are indispensable treatments for any condition involving the nervous system. I love what I do and after ten years of practicing naturopathic medicine and integrative mind-body approaches, I look forward to helping my clients the best I can.

Dealing with a mood disorder can be debilitating. Treatments require an integrative approach.
